Astri Yuliawati
PhD
Astri Yuliawati is a PhD candidate under the supervision of Dr. April Reside and Professor Richard Fuller. Her research focuses on the population, distribution, and habitat characteristics of urban parrots in Indonesia. By identifying suitable habitats and understanding how parrots use urban spaces, her work aims to inform city planning and promote coexistence between humans and parrots in urban environments.

Her passion for parrots began during her undergraduate studies in Biology at Padjadjaran University, where she became particularly interested in the behavior and ecology of Red-breasted Parakeet in cities. She was also actively involved in a bird conservation club in Bandung. After completing her undergraduate degree, Astri continued her studies in the Master's program in Tropical Biodiversity Conservation at IPB University.

Favourite animal: I love parrots and cows 😊.
Controversial opinion: Parrots deserve more city planning attention than cars. At least they don’t pollute 😉.
